Making Better Dancers

Information for Parents

Parents, we want to be up front about our policies and what we expect of you so that you can make the choice if our school is the right fit for you.  Please take the time to carefully review the following information:

Procedures for airing/addressing questions concerns grievances:  First of all, we appreciate your feedback.  I'm sure that many of you can relate to the following experience:

You're sitting in the lobby of a dance studio and are privy to a group of parents complaining about what they would like to see changed at that particular studio or what they would do if they were in charge.  Every week, the same group of parents complain, but they never seem to be interested in resolving the issues that are causing them concern.

While we understand that venting your concerns with peers is a vital part of the process of problem resolution, we want you to feel comfortable with coming to the management directly.  We want to do our part by saying that we welcome the opportunity to listen to your comments/concerns as long as:

Fire Exits and Evacuation Procedure:  We will clearly point out the emergency evacuation plan to students.  These plans are posted up in multiple high visibility locations throughout the studio.  In the event of fire, we will notify each student's parent/legal guardian as soon as everyone have been moved to safety.

Accident/Injury Documentation:  Any time a student is injured at Dance House, an Accident/Injury report will be completed by the attending staff person.  The staff member will describe how the injury occurred, the nature of the injury and what First-Aid was given.  The form requires the signatures of both the staff member and the child's parent/legal guardian.

Emergency Contact Procedure:   In the event of Serious Illness or Injury that requires medical attention, 911 will be dialed immediately.  Every effort will be made to contact the child's parent/legal guardian before they leave the school.  Children will be transported to Southern Maine Medical Center     (S.M.M.C. Emergency Department Phone:  294-5000).
